§ Camp Clearlake § Book 2: Lycanthropy Camp_c10
Nestled in the snow-capped mountains of a scenic location lies a gorgeous aquamarine lake surrounded by lush evergreen forests. On the beaches of this lake, in its forests, and on its islands stand what appear to be deserted campgrounds. However, they're only empty to your eyes.
The trees whisper a bit more than they should, there are occasionally unnatural ripples in the lake, and every other second you could swear you hear tinkling laughter or the ping of an arrow hitting a bull's-eye. You can tell yourself it's all in your imagination, but there's no denying those shapes in the mist look disturbingly like translucent people.
Welcome to Camp Clearlake.

_________________________

Book 2: Lycanthropy
Werewolves across the globe are at war with rebels of their own kind. Wolves do not usually ally with other magical species, but dark times call for desperate measures. Lycanthropes that meet the age requirements are now admitted to Camp Clearlake -- but is it for better or worse?

Book 1: The Covert Con
A vampire conspiracy of Black Mages, workers of black magic, are growing in number, and have even planted mages in Camp Clearlake. Everyone is in danger -- if not from the Con, from themselves.

_________________________

*About Camp Clearlake

Camp Clearlake is a camp for the undead. This includes ghosts, vampires, zombies, angels, phantoms, etc. There are three divisions of the camp: the Mermaid Division, the Pirate Division, and the Goddess Division. You mostly stay with your Division, but there are several camp-wide events, balls, gatherings, and festivals throughout the year. Camp Clearlake is a sleepaway camp, but since the campers are dead anyway, it runs year-round, although not everyone stays. If you were between the ages of twelve and nineteen when you died, you are eligible to attend Camp Clearlake.

*About The Divisions

The Goddess Division
The Goddess Division is the campsite in the forest. There are two Dorm Longhouses, one for boys and one for girls. Beside those is a Mess Hall, another longhouse. A fourth longhouse holds the counselors' quarters and GD (Goddess Division) offices. There are several wigwams around the area, known as Activity Huts. Activities offered in the GD are archery, combat, art, woodshop, hunting, music, metalshop, ecology, zoology, creative writing, and spellwork.
The Pirate Division
The Pirate Division is the campsite on the shore. Large houses on stilts, extending on boardwalks over the water, are the boys' and girls' dorms. A third stilted house is the Mess Hall, and a fourth is the counselors' quarters and PD offices. There are piers and lean-to's for activities. The activities offered in the PD are swimming, archery, combat, fishing, art, music, creative writing, spellwork, whittling, ecology, and astrology.
The Mermaid Division
The Mermaid Division is the campsite on the islands. On the smaller island, Luna, are the cabins housing the boys' and girls' dorms, the Mess Hall, and the counselors' quarters and MD offices. On the larger island, Tierra, are the activity gazebos and piers. The MD offers activities such as swimming, fishing, astrology, archery, art, music, creative writing, spellwork, diving, combat, and canoeing.

*About The Campers

Ghosts
Ghosts are from the Victorian era, and tend to be gothic and depressing. They can pass through solid objects at their will. They are near invisible in bright sunlight.
Vampires
Vampires do not sparkle in the sun or run at lightning speed. Sorry, Twilight fans. Vampires have pale skin, fangs, and red/amber/orange eyes. They aren't indestructable, but their injuries do heal extremely quickly, sometimes within seconds after receiving them. They have to hunt often and prefer to stay in the shade, and for that reason almost all vampire at Clearlake prefer to enroll in the GD. And yes, vampires can eat and sleep.
Zombies
Zombies are not man-eating beasts as has been widely accepted due to the illeged "zombie apocalypse." Zombies are undead corpses, perhaps missing an eye or arm or some skin here or there, but nothing overly gruesome. They might simply have sunken cheeks and waxy skin. They function as normal humans, with the exception of being able to detach and reattach their various body parts.
Angels
Angels have large, feathery wings that can vanish and reappear at the angel's will. Their halo appears only when their wings are out, or when they are performing magic. Angels look like humans in every sense when their wings are gone. There are two types of angels, dark angels and pure angels. Dark angels have black or gray wings and halos and tend to have more sinister or mischievous personalities, while pure angels have white wings and halos and tend to be selfless beacons of hope.
Phantoms
Phantoms are ghosts from other time periods besides the Victorian era. They could be anything--pirates, ninjas, soldiers, royalty, ordinary teenagers--and be from any point in history--from the times of the cave people, to the days of the American Revolution, to the 1960's, to present day. Like ghosts, they can pass through solid objects at will.
Werewolves
Werewolves, or lycanthropes, are humans that can transform to wolves at will. Their magical powers are strongest at the full moon. They are hard to maim, but they are mortal, and therefore can be killed.

*About Activities

Each division offers activities for the campers to participate in. During the winter, spring, and autumn, campers are required to participate in at least one activity each weekday. During the summer, campers can participate in however many activities they would like.

Jake loved the familiar feeling of being in the portal. When he blinked open is eyes, he smiled as he saw the lake.

"No," Fawn said, "no, I'm good. We can head back now."

Ivy smiled. "You're doing great! Look at you! You climb like a monkey!"

((No, the portal is the thing to get out of the Blood City. It takes them to outside the tree opening.))

Blaze grabbed his hand and started eastward, where the hedge and the lake behind it were waiting.

"Alright," said Alexander, grabbing her hand and teleporting back to the Blood City.

Stain smirked. If only you knew.

((Ohh, okay!))

Jake smiled at the familiar sight. "I'll race you to the lake!" he called.

After teleporting, Fawn smiled. "What should we do today?"

How is he so good at climbing? She thought to herself. It was insane and pretty cool at the same time.

Blaze grinned and took off. She loved friendly competition.

"I don't know," Alexander shrugged. "Well, go put your clothes away and change is the obvious first step."

Soon, Stain reached three-quarters up the tree. "Should I keep going?" he called down.

Alexander nodded, pushing the door open.

Stain continued to climb until the branches were too thin. "Victory!" he shouted, pumping his fist in the air.

Jake grinned, leaping into the lake. "I let you win!" he declared jokingly.

As they entered the house, Fawn marched to her room, and changed into lightwashed, mildly distressed jeans, a turquiose y-neck shirt, and black Converse. As she exited her room, she smiled.

"Woot! Now how are you going to get down?"

"Sure," she smirked. "Aw, but now my shorts are all wet." She peeled off the jean shorts and left them on the bank along with the picnic basket and blanket, and then cannonballed back into the lake, her long black hair flowing around her in waves.

"Beautiful as ever," smiled Alexander.

"Climb back down," said Stain. It would be so much easier just to jump, but no human could survive that. Even a cat would have difficulty with a tree this tall.

"Alright... I dare you.. to find a frog and kiss it."

Blaze kissed him back, and then surfaced, coughing up water. "Should've used a spell," she sputtered, "but that was worth it."

"Calm down, two-year-old. I'll show you. Come on. I have the perfect place." He grabbed her hand and dragged her out the door.

"Hmm... go look over there. I'll look that way. If you find one, just kiss it, I'll take your word even if I don't see it." Stain said. He waited until she had her back turned, and then transformed into a frog, croaking loudly. (( Smug ))

Fawn nodded, growing more and more excited.

Ivy glanced around the forest, scanning it for any frogs. Sighing, she turned around again when she heard a loud croak. "Oh!" she exclaimed, picking it up. She grimaced before kissing it full on the... lips? Did frogs have lips?

"Too bad it's not my strong suit, otherwise I would stay down there for ages."

They soon went through the portal and ended up in the forest. Alexander led her through the trees, excited to show her his secret place.

Stain really didn't know why he was doing this. It was fun, nonetheless. After she kissed him, he hopped out of her hands and behind a tree. A moment later Stain emerged as himself. "Was that a frog I heard?"

Jake shrugged. "Not really mine either. It's so fun, though . . ." he murmured, pulling Blaze into his arms.

Fawn looked around in wonder, keeping stride with Xander.

Ivy grinned, nodding. "Yes, I kissed it. You were gone as soon as it left!"

Blaze smiled, leaning against his chest. "Agreed."

After some time, they reached a large, steep hill that would be near impossible for a human to climb. Alexander grabbed Fawn's hand and teleported to the top. They stood in the center of a rune, square pillars arranged in a circle, parts of the stone floor still remaining. ((If you follow Degrassi, picture the place where Adam threw the lights party for Fiona. If you don't... well, then just try to visualise it. Eye Roll ))

"Aw, I would've loved to see it," Stain laughed.

Jake stroked her beautiful black hair lovingly.

((Okay xD)) Fawn looked around in wonder. "Is this where we'll be training?" she asked softly.

"Yeah, it was extremely weird. It's like the frog was you," she said jokingly.

Blaze smiled, closing her eyes. She loved being in his arms.

"Yep. It's perfect, isn't it?" Alexander sighed happily. "It's my secret enchanted place."

Stain laughed. He hoped to God she wasn't onto him. "Well, I can assure you I'm not the frog prince."

"I love you, Blaze." he murmured, still stroking her hair.

Fawn nodded. "It's beautiful," she looked around again. "So, what will we be training?"

"Haha, I guess that's a good thing," she laughed.

"I love you too," she murmured.

"What would you like to learn to do?" Alexander asked.

Stain laughed. "I'd be oozing in slime."

Jake sighed happily, enjoying the moment. Suddenly, he ducked under the water, grinning.

"Hmm. Well, maybe if I have any sort of special power? How would I figure that out?"

Ivy laughed harder. "And you'd have a long, sticky tongue!"
