Claw

This site needs some life... So, I'll put up two poems I wrote recently.

Phrases

"I'll hold you tight."
"I won't let you go."
Broken promises
I used to know.

Now they've all snapped.
Splintered in two.
There's nothing left
Of me and you.

My mind flips back
Through an endless book.
Where did I go wrong?
What was the hook?

I see no problem.
Can't find the fatal flaw.
I'm just not good enough.
Down descends The Claw.

The Claw that threatens
Day after day,
To tear me to pieces.
To rip me away.

It hovers so close
Too close for comfort
Waiting for me to show
My weakness, my hurt

Not allowing me
To fall away from my past,
Anticipating the moment
When I shed my mask.

The moment arrives.
The Claws' fingers are spread.
It gropes at my insides,
As it tears me to shreds.

This further exposes
The weakness in me.
Throws it up in lights
For all to see.

The pain, the shame
All The Claw does is hunt
I turn to my savior,
And destroyer, all at once.

Distance, more distance...
This sea never ends.
The days and the weeks?
They're starting to blend.

I'm losing it all.
Friends, family, myself.
Like cupping water in hands.
It all starts to melt.

It's not gone immediately,
It disappears over time.
Like a crystal clear window
Now covered in grime.

Or maybe it's closer,
To a memory covered in mist
It fades out quickly
An impulsive kiss.


Play Pretend

Won't you dress up
And play pretend with me?
Use your imagination
And be a good actress
Just imagine that
You're not hurting
Visualize that
It'll be okay
Dream like
Your dreams weren't broken
Remember that
The memories don't matter
Hold tightly to the fact
That you were let go
Don't forget
That you were forgotten
Cover yourself up
In pretty lies
And now won't you come
And play pretend with me?

It's okay, your poetry is good, and isn't really a problem. xD

... It becomes a problem, when you realize you're attempting to make your sentences rhyme... xD Believe me, that's irritating.

Oh, ooch, yeah, understandable. xD

Or you start talking in a rhythm... xD It's like your oatmeal obsession. It's just going downhill.

Okay, okay, I see your point, then. xD When you bring things to oatmeal, now I know what you're talking about. xD

xDD I love that in order to bring you to understanding, I have to use the analogy of oatmeal.

xDDD That's kinda sad...
