Fall

The higher you go,
The further you fall.

I've been sitting here,
Staring at the wall,
Thinking of before
I slowed to a crawl.

It was the happiness,
To which you gave birth,
Then you brought me back,
Down to the earth.

I love you so much,
But I hate you right now,
You shoveled my heart
Out with a snow plow.

Time slows down my heart,
I stare at the floor,
Waiting for your face
To walk through the door.

I kiss a picture,
A tear falls from my eye,
I think of your smile
As I whisper goodbye.

No more leads,
No more wants,
No more secrets,
No more haunts.

My world crashes down,
My heart closes off,
I wish I could forget,
A memory cough.

Sneeze out my innards,
Wring out my brain,
Throw up my guts,
No stranger to pain.

I glance at the knife,
There on my bed,
Think of what would happen,
If I slit myself instead.

I shrug off the thought,
Live through the pain,
Just make it through,
So much strength to gain.

I close my eyes
And try to sleep,
Forget my thoughts,
Try not to weep.

I lie on my back,
Dying inside,
Behind these walls,
I stay and hide.

Wipe off the tears,
Rinse off my face,
Put on the smile,
Rejoin the race.

The higher you go,
The further you fall.

I love this poem... It's so deep, and the last two line stanza is definitely *shivers* worthy.
