One Tree Hill highschool!

James saw her run out onto the open field where trees were everywhere, and sit down at the grassy base of a billowing willow tree. He followed her ((stalker, much?)), and sat down next to her for a couple seconds. He fingered his collar, considering his options, then put his hand on her shoulder:
"Are you, um, alright?"

(( Hahhaha, "stalker, much?" xD ))

Nadine looked up, startled. She quickly tried to wipe the tears (and, no doubt, mascara tracks) off of her cheeks, but they kept coming. Finally, she sighed and said, "Does it look like I'm alright?"

James sighed, and kneeled next to her.
"N-no, I suppose you don't. It's Ryan and that other girl, isn't it?"
He didn't wait for an answer and continued, "I'm sorry." He reached out and touched her shoulder lightly.

Nadine nodded, forcing a small smile. "Thanks..." She sniffled and tried to dry her tears.

Edna was walking when she heard someone crying. Taking a look she was surprised to see James sitting with his hand on Nadine's shoulder. What was going on?

((I believe that's OK. I'm still sort of a newbie at this.))

"It's alright, " James murmured, trying his best to comfort the upset girl. He saw another girl walking by and moved a bit, trying not to appear too awkward.

((K, glad I'm not the only one))

Edna deliberated trying to decide whether to go investigate further or to leave them to it. She decided on walking closer surupticiously ((how ever you spell that)) and finding out what was going on.

((Actually, three-way-RPs are kind of hard to keep up because sometimes two people are online and they RP like three pages and the other person isn't there, so usually it's just easier to do two-way RPs. ))

Nadine smiled sadly at him.

((Yeah, it does sort of seem like that))

Edna sneaked up behind a bush and sat there listening to them.

James felt his face flush with color, but he tried to act oblivious to it. At the same time, he hated himself for getting in this position. He knew he had bad luck with girls.

Of course, like all times Edna tried to hide, she fell, right over to were Nadine and James were sitting. She blushed, "Sorry."

James flinched and scooted away from Nadine. He realized just how close he had been, and wondered what this girl might be thinking.

Edna was looking apollagetically at James, she hadn't meant to ruin this moment. She started scooting awkwardly away. Then she realized that Nadine had tear tracks running down her cheeks. "What's wrong?" She asked.

Nadine stared at the girl for a moment. In the back of her head, she registered that she was surrounded by nerds. This was going to just be wonderful for her reputation. Cheated on, soon to be dumped, and befriended by the weirdest kids in school. But then again, she knew what it was like to be a loner. Trying to keep an open mind, Nadine sighed. "Um, well, girl whose name I don't know, my boyfriend is cheating on me. I'm just so broken... He means everything to me." Nadine sadly fingered her bracelet.

James sat cross-legged, not sure if he should say anything or not. He settled on nodding his head, and inched towards Nadine again, for some reason, wanting to be physically closer to her.

I laughed at the way James wanted to keep inching closer to Nadine. But then I looked at Nadine, who appeared to think I was laughing at her. "No, I'm so sorry." I said.

Nadine wasn't sure if she liked this unfamiliar girl or not. She contemplated her as she finally slowed and stopped her tears. She suddenly became aware of James's prominity to her; his leg was brushing against hers.

James flinched and moved his leg awkwardly to the side when he saw that Nadine noticed. He flashed a glance in her direction, not particularly wanting to see the look on her face. He reddened again.

Nadine smiled when she saw he was blushing. "It's okay, you know," she said quietly. "I need a shoulder to lean on desperately right now."

James smiled, and got redder, and almost fainted all at the same time. He tried again, trembling slightly, and put an arm around her shoulders.

Nadine giggled at his anxiety. "You've never been with a girl, have you?" she asked. "Even being friends you look so nervous!"

I watched this exchange not knowing what to do. Should I go? Should I stay? What? I sighed, I thought they would enjoy this moment. "Well, I'm sorry Nadine." I said, "I'm... just... gonna go." I said. I stood up and started to edge away.
