Lilly was greatful to be in her bed, but she doubted sleep would come. When it did though, she was pleasently surprised.

Mark laid down beside her, just watching her sleep. Then he got up and again checked to make sure everything was locked, and then started to make some soup, checking back on her every thirty seconds.

Lilly didn't know how long it was, but soon, she woke up. "Mark?" she called.

Mark poked his head in the bedroom door, setting the soup pot down on the table. He walked over to her and held her tight. "How are you feeling?"

Mark shuddered. "Where? Is there a reason he would've targeted you?"

"I... I don't...." she paused, straining hard. She knew she'd seen him before. "Don't know..."

Mark looked at Lilly, concerned. "Tell me if you think of it... in the meantime, soup is ready." He brought in a steaming bowl of chicken noodle soup for her.

Lilly's stomach snarled. "Yum!" she said, taking a mouthful- but soon regretted it, for it was steaming hot. Her mind raced back to that day.... many years ago...

Lilly lay huddled in a blanket, crying, in the back of an ambulence
"...do you know thw cause of the fire, Jim?" asked a police officer.
Jim, the fireman who had rescued Lilly nodded gravely. It looks like a man started it. It's unknown why, and we've lost his trail. But we do know who he is, and what he looks like."
"And?" asked the officer.
"His name was Butch. He's wanted for many offences, and is very dangerous. Murder, a whole bunch of stuff..."

Lilly's eyes snapped open. "I know who that man was!" she exclaimed. "He's the man who set my house on fire! He killed my mom and dad!"

"So was it coincidence... or something more?" Mark's brain was overloaded. He once again glanced at the bolted doors and windows, worrying...

Mark nodded. "Do you have any weapons in the house? We should keep them nearby at all times, just in case..."

She got up out of bed. "They should be in the closet. Just to let you know, I don't exactly have them legally,"

"Lilly, we're prison escapees. Do you think I care?" Mark rolled his eyes and kissed her quickly before going to retrieve the weapons.

Lilly laughed nervously. "I know, I know... I went to jail again for stealing those.... then escaped again, and managed to get my hands on 'em again,"

"Really? That's such a coincidence, because so am I!" Mark grinned, tucking the switchblade into his pocket and wrapping his arms around Lilly from behind, picking her up and spinning her around.

Mark collapsed on the couch, pulling her onto his lap. He kissed the top of her head with a serene smile.

Lilly smiled, but a question popped into her head. "How long was I asleep?"
