One Tree Hill highschool!

"Star light, star bright," Nadine whispered, "First star I see tonight, I wish I may I wish I--" She paused. "I don't have anything logical to wish for. I already have the boy of my dreams."

"I don't have anything to wish for either." James concurred, smiling.

She gently kissed him.

James didn't know how long it took, but he fell asleep under the stars. He woke up in the middle of the night. Shivering in his still wet clothes.

Nadine was still asleep, though she was shivering.

James hugged Nadine to him, hopefully to share some body heat. It was freezing out here. Both of their clothes were still wet, which was probably the problem, but James was at loss for how to get them dry.

Nadine rolled over in his arms, muttering something in her sleep that sounded distinctly like "James..."

James touched his forehead to her's, whispering nonsense into her ear.

((Hehehe xD))

Nadine smiled at the sound of his voice. Being asleep doesn't stop you from being in love.

James saw Nadine's lip curl up at the edges, and smiled himself. A violent shiver wracked through him, and, despite his better judgement, he pulled off his still sopping shirt, and hung it up with the sweatshirts, making a mental note to wake up before Nadine did.

James's movement caused Nadine's eyes to flutter open. When James came into focus, she giggled, sitting up. "What t-t-time is it?" she asked, teeth chattering.

"I've got no idea." James blushed a little as he realized that she had seen him, "Late. But it's so cold, I think we're going to need to build a fire and dry our clothes over it. ... And not catch them on fire," he added as an afterthought.

Nadine nodded, standing up at once; her ecology camp skills began to kick in. "We need rocks, kindling, sticks, and bigger branches. Er, but about lighting it... well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

((I'm copying our entire OTH James/Nadine RP into Word. I'm only up to page 84 of the thread and I've already got 40 pages. OUR RP IS LONGER THAN MY NOVEL SO FAR. xD ))

"Oh!" James exclaimed, something from an outdoor camp from years ago hitting him, "To light it, we need a rock about the size of my palm, and big hunk of wood, a thick stick, a long stick, and something string-like. Actually..." James paused, feeling around in his pockets, "Weirdly enough, I've got this thick twine-y stuff in my pocket. I can light the fire." He set around, looking for a place to start the fire, and the things they needed. He found the wood and rocks he would need to start the fire, and set about looking for larger rocks, and kindling.

((Awesome! But why, I must ask? Lol, we're about to past my novel, too. ))

"Well... actually... my dad used to carry around pocketknives and matches with him. I don't know why, but he did, and that's his hoodie..." she walked over to her father's hoodie hanging next to James and dug through the pockets. She pulled out a matchbox which felt near empty. No pocketknife. "We're in luck!" she said, waving the matchbox around.

James sighed in relief: he was no master at fires.
"Well, let's hope those matches light, and don't go out. Want to set up here?" he pointed to a random open space that didn't appear to be drenched.

Nadine gathered up rocks, kindling, sticks, and branches, and opened the match box. There were two left. After a few tries, the first once managed to catch fire. She lit the kindling and shook the match out, watching the fire spread rapidly.

"Now let's hope the wood catches before the fire goes out..." James grimaced, although he couldn't help but revel in the warmth and light that washed over his body.

Although it took a while, the wood finally began to catch. Smiling in the warmth eminating from the fire, Nadine sat down on the ground in front of it.

James grabbed their clothes that were hanging, and rehung them on a branch above the fire.
"They might be a little bit smoky, but I think it's the best thing we can do, for now."

Nadine nodded, patting the ground beside her for James to sit down.

James pulled his relatively dry sweatshirt back on, watching the light fluttering across Nadine's face as the flames flickered.

Nadine snuggled into James's arms. His sweatshirt was still damp, but she just wanted to be close to him.

James just held Nadine to him, waiting for the warmth to spread around their "tent"-ish type thing.

Nadine felt very peaceful, despite being lost in the forest, in the dark, in the cold. She leaned on James's chest and closed her eyes, still staying awake.
