James ran into the pantry of his house, and gazed around, "We have bagels!" he called back to Nadine, "and cereal, milk, orange juice, ooh, we have banana muffins!" he listed off his breakfast-y items.

(( xD I couldn't think of any other way to describe it. I was going to say "She pointed skyward" but that would be straight up so.. xP ))

"Ooh, I love banana muffins! My dad made the best--" her words caught in her throat and she stopped short. It was just too soon to talk about him...

"It's okay. Here." James pulled out the ziploc bag and handed her one.

Nadine thanked him, and bit into it, smiling as the memories flooded her brain.

James devoured his own, not having eaten anything in about 24 hours, and moved on to a second one.

[Dreamer]

Nadine ate hers slowly, spacing out.

((LOL! Er, what do you think should happen now?))

James grabbed a gallon of milk out of the fridge, pouring himself a glass, then looking at Nadine, who was zoned out.
"Er, want some?"

[Dreamer]

(( Idk. ))

Nadine blinked several times. "What? Oh, er, no, thank you."

"Okay," James shrugged, and put the jug back in the fridge.

[Dreamer]

"Sorry. I was just thinking about my dad." She tried to keep her face expressionless, but then, without warning, threw herself into James's arms. She didn't cry, but she felt like she could.

[Tolly12bells]

"Shh, shh.... It's okay... It's alright..." James whispered to her, knowing that he couldn't comfort her, but he should try.

[Dreamer]

"I'm sorry," Nadine murmured, her head still buried in his shoulder. "It's going to take a while."

[Tolly12bells]

"Don't be sorry. None of this is your fault at all." James rocked back and forth a little.

[Dreamer]

Nadine managed a smile, thinking how lucky she was to have him. "I honestly don't know what I would do without you."

[Tolly12bells]

"I know what I would be doing," James added, chuckling a little, "I'd be doing homework right now. And extra credit, and studying, and being my nerdy self. But I'd much rather be doing this instead."

[Dreamer]

"Me, too," she smiled, kissing him lightly on the lips.

[Tolly12bells]

As the kiss broke apart a few seconds later, James felt compelled to ask, "What do you think people at school are thinking right now? They must have heard the news."

[Dreamer]

Nadine laughed. "Oh, God. Any number of incorrect, perverted things."

[Tolly12bells]

James laughed too, he hadn't even considered how perverted the whole ordeal might seem. Oh, yes, the rumors that would be flying when they returned.

[Dreamer]

"Well, it's not as if the both of us haven't had our fair share of taunts and rumors. We'll make it through this, as long as we've got each other."

[Tolly12bells]

"True that," James nodded, "Okay, now, I know I'm being nosy, but what's the most ridiculous rumor you've ever heard? It can be about you, or somebody else."

[Dreamer]

"Someone once said that I fell into a fire when I was young, and that's why my face is so ugly." Nadine rolled her eyes. "People seeking revenge are retards.."

[Tolly12bells]

"God, that's so stupid!" James cried suddenly.

[Dreamer]

"Yeah, I mean, if I had fallen into a fire I would have terrible scars, wouldn't I?" Nadine indicated her face. "I'm just ugly by birth."

"You're not ugly!" James contradicted quickly, "I mean, no, you're not pretty, " pause, "You're beautiful."
