((When I'm famous, you guys are coming to a book signing and I will give you copies for free and then we will frolic in the fields of unicorns and Gilberto's and... um, never mind.
I have temporary mental breakdowns, but I really hope I never crack for good. I've been begging my parents to get me a therapist for months to prevent it but they don't take me seriously.))

Nadine stared at him with blurred vision, the alcohol starting to set in, releasing her right wrist with her now bloody left hand. She poked his cheek, smearing her blood across it, and laughed. "I don't know, but your cheek is squishy." She poked him again and burst into raucous laughter.

James sighed. She was too drunk. This was a lost cause for right now.

I definitely need to... I'm so scared of myself half the time and I hate myself the other half. And my parents will never understand it, never have, never will, so I continue to suffer in silence.))

Nadine pinched his cheeks in her blood-spattered hands. "Aww, who's a cutie," she cooed. "You actually are pretty hot, though," she slurred.

((I know that feeling... I scare myself when I get depressed and get all deep, then I hate myself afterwards for letting myself get there again... It's sorta rare that I'm completely content with myself... :-\))

James ran his fingers through hair, and pressed the bottoms of his palms into his eyes, "Nadine, look," he sighed, "You know where I live. Try to remember. Come find me when you're sober enough to think again, will you?" he stood up, miffed, and shuffled back down the trail.

((No, I just scare myself because I'm legitimately insane, and I hate myself because I'm ugly and for all my other shortcomings.))

"I'm never sober, silly," she laughed, stumbling to catch up to him and grabbing his arm. "Why won't you stay and have some fun?"

((Guys, we sound like such a negative group of people... I outlet all my emotions through writing, or music... Or having a breakdown, but I try to avoid those...))

James shook his head, becoming more and more irritated, "Tomorrow. Before you have anything else to drink. I'm writing it on your hand, because you're bound to forget."
He wrenched a pen that still lived in his pocket from old habit, and scribbled Remember me? and his address.

Nadine blinked at the writing on her hand, not being able to make any sense of it. She hiccuped again. "I'll forget not to drink," Nadine shrugged, suddenly very serious. "Take me as I am or leave me, but I don't remember you."

((*Spins wildly, churning up a happy dust cloud*))

"Or so you think," James sighed, "I have one last thing that might as least jog your memory." He pressed his lips to hers, and she tasted like champagne. He pulled away, and without waiting for a response, ran from the scene.

((*chokes on happy dust and dies* Well, that was unfortunate.))

Nadine stared after him, dumbfounded, but did not move. "Why?" she whispered to the still summer air surrounding her. She sat down on the stump, which now had a crimson stain, and traced the writing on her hand, trying to read it. Her head ached and she gave up. The only word she recognized was "James," and it echoed in her head with a painful familiarity and the sweet taste of his lips on hers.

((ROFL. I just cracked up, Nadine. "Well, that was unfortunate." xDDD))

James kept running. Past Nadine's house, past his, all the way past the tow. His aching legs didn't hurt like aching legs should, and the stabs from his gasps of breath didn't feel like they ought to either. It all felt like a broken heart. Like he was being torn to pieces from the inside out. His girl. The one he had planned on being with forever, didn't even remember him, let alone still love him.

Nadine felt sick to her stomach, but not from the champagne. From the feeling that when she had left this town, she had torn something out of her memory, and this boy, whoever he was, was attempting to stitch it back in.

James finally collapsed, a good three miles from his house. He didn't even know he had the ability to run three miles straight. Every part of him hurt as he clung to the thin trunk of a newly planted tree.

Nadine felt her cheeks become wet with tears. The salt water dripped into her mouth. It tasted like heartbreak.

((Tears. Definitely. And it feels like your stomach is crying [hint, hint].))

James tried to force out tears, but none would come, and his shoulders rolled with invisible sobs. It hurt in ways that shouldn't be allowed, and he wanted to rip his heart out. His fingers trembled, an thoughts of self-harm flashed through his mind.
